Alice-Agnes Gabriel
Biography
Alice-Agnes Gabriel is assistant professor at the
Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at LMU
Munich. After a M.sc. degree in theoretical physics,
performing atomistic simulations of semi-conductors, she
changed fields into geophysics. She received her PhD in
2013 in a collaborative project of ETH Zurich, the
California Institute of Technology and King Abdullah
University of Science and Technology (KAUST) studying
earthquake source dynamics numerically and analytically.
During postdoctoral research at LMU Munich, she focused on
the development and application of the software package
SeisSol for the simulation of realistic strong ground
motions as well as for studying fundamental earthquake
physics. In her current position her main research aim is
unraveling the physics of earthquakes, employing
innovative algorithms as well as current and emerging HPC
infrastructure for geophysics.
